OVERVIEW

Have you ever found yourself in front of a public art installation and wondered who the artist is? Maybe you became so intrigued that all of a sudden an urge to learn more from that artist kicked in and want to see more of their work? I know I have definitely been there.

I introduce you to ARTSYFINDER. The Shazam-like app that can identify public artwork after it is scanned and provide you with useful information about the artist and installation in front of you, perhaps even provide you with a sense of excitement and belonging.

Objectives

  • Grow cultural identity. Art is used to express individuality, but it also connects people that share similar cultural tastes

  • Create a sense of belonging by learning more about public artworks that embellish the city they live or are visiting

  • Generate excitement that would lead to increased traffic which could benefit businesses

Methodologies:

  • Competitive Analysis Research: study the benefits of public art in communities and how to connect it more to the viewers

  • Develop the Think. Feel. Believe. methodology to get more into the minds of users.

  • Develop User Persona. This will give us a more accurate representation of our users.

I created an app that I would love to have at my disposal. It does so much more than just give you an artist’s name. It allows you to connect to art, to deepen knowledge, allow for a sense of pride and community. Perhaps even plan your next adventure now that you know more about particular pieces.

Next steps

  • Hand off project to programers

  • Fully develop bottom menu features

  • Research Shazam’s technology

  • Develop other flows

Thank you for your interest in my case study and for making it this far.
